Fiberglass is the strongest body tube that we carry. These are the deluxe tubes use if you want super strong and easy to paint rockets!
Another advantage of fiberglass is that it is transparant to RF signals. So if your rocket has GPS receivers or some type of telemetry transmitter, then this is perfect for your project!

Due to the length of these tubes, there is a $2.00 shipping premium added to your total to cover the extra long box and additional freight charges.
International Customers: Due to the length of the tubes, we can only ship to a few countries, because of postal regulations. For a list of countries that we can ship to, click here.

What are the disadvantages of it?
|
Price is the big reason that fiberglass isn't more widely used. Fiberglass is a bit more expensive than the Blue Tube that we also carry. It is also harder to cut, since it is a very dense and strong material. So if you need through-the-wall fins or cut to a special length, you'll need to cut it with power tools. Sorry, we do not provide cutting services for this item. Be aware that cutting fiberglass can release tiny glass fibers into the air, so always remember to wear a dust mask rated for fiberglass products.
Also, since this is a denser material than paper products, it will result in a heavier rocket. This usually isn't a problem in high power rocketry, since it is so easy to put a larger rocket engine with more power into it.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Fiberglass Tubes:
|
Q. Do you have any additional sizes?
- A. Not yet. But we're working on it.
Q. Does the Apogee BT-80 size nose cone (P/N 20080) fit the 2.6" tube?
- A. The shoulder fits inside the tube just fine. But the nose cone was designed for thin-wall tubes, so the outside diameters don't match up correctly. The nose is slightly smaller in diameter than the tube. But in a pinch, it will work.
Q. Where does Apogee get the fiberglass tube from?
- A. Mad Cow Rocketry. This is the same tube that is used in the all-fiberglass Honest John rocket kit.
Q. I am outside of the United States. Can you ship the Fiberglass Tubes to me?
- A. We can ship Blue tubes to the following countries: Canada, Hong Kong, Andorra, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macao, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City

Other Items that people who bought the Fiberglass Tubes have found useful:
|
Blue Tube - Blue Tube is a durable gray tubing designed for high power rockets. It isn't as strong as fiberglass, but it is significantly cheaper.
Blue Tube Couplers - Sometimes these are also called Airframe Couplers, and are used to join tubes of the same diameter.
